We are writing in regards to the Cleveland City Council’s decision to appoint someone to City Council to replace Ken Johnson. We find this to be very problematic, due to the fact that we are currently in an election cycle.
This particular course of action plays into the long held apprehensions by many Cleveland residents regarding city council appointments on vacant seats. Many Clevelanders believe that it is problematic when City Council gives the advantage of incumbency in such situations when an election is forthcoming. This decision should be in the hands of the residents of ward 4.
